What I am Thankful For

I spend a lot of time talking about dogs.  Given my job and my menagerie of pets at home, I also spend a lot of time talking to dogs (you know you do it too!).  They are such good listeners - maybe because their ears are so big?

Today, the day after Thanksgiving, I am reflecting on the good things in my life and I'd like to share my thoughts with you.  Here is a list of "What I am Thankful For"... feel free to read it aloud to your dog.

1.  I am thankful for my husband, David.  He loves animals as much as I do.  He climbed on the roof to hang Christmas lights.  He is endlessly patient, kind, helpful and supportive.  He will get out of bed at 11pm to deal with a cockroach.  He takes excellent pictures.  He makes me laugh.  He carries my heavy water bottles when we go hiking.  He set up an Instagram account for our cat.  He fixed our broken oven.  He makes the fun days more fun and the difficult days more bearable.  He is the perfect guy for me and I'm so glad I get to call him mine.

2.  I am thankful that so many family members, especially Papa and Gamma, were able to attend our wedding this summer.  People came from all over the country to celebrate with us (and to enjoy drinks at the Open Bar) and it was one of the best days of my life.  I will forever cherish the pictures and memories from that day!

3.  I am thankful that Jenny, my sweet Golden Retriever, is 13.5 years old.  Despite 3 different cancers during the past 5 years, she remains strong, playful and happy.  I appreciate the many veterinarians that have examined Jenny, answered my never-ending questions, performed surgeries, educated me about different medications and offered alternative therapies.  In particular Dr. Jamie Laity, Dr. Meredith Binder, and Dr. Claudia McFadden.  You consistently go above and beyond your job description, and I am lucky to have you on Team Jenny.  Jenny is feeling so good that occasionally she will do something like chew up a Zappos box containing $300 of online shopping orders.  With your help and a little bit of luck, she will be causing trouble like this for years to come.

4.  I am thankful that my parents are close by, healthy, and my biggest cheerleaders.

5.  I am thankful to be gainfully employed at a job I love.  Running Puptown Charlotte comes with a lot of responsibility, and at times a lot of stress, but I genuinely love this place and am grateful for these past 8+ years here.  I appreciate my staff for their hard work and commitment, I appreciate our customers for their trust and loyalty over the years.  I can't imagine my life any other way, and because of your support, I do not have to.
